On 11th September 2025, the CyberChain special interest group at MMU officially kicked off its journey with its very first CyberChain Meetup — a casual, community-building session bringing together students who share a passion for cybersecurity and blockchain technology.

Launching a New Tech Community at MMU

CyberChain’s mission is to create a space where students can learn, share, and grow together while exploring the fast-evolving worlds of cybersecurity and blockchain. The meetup served as an introduction to the group’s vision, goals, and upcoming plans for future workshops, talks, and collaborative projects.

Connecting Enthusiasts and Future Professionals

Participants had the opportunity to meet and network with like-minded peers, exchange ideas, and discuss the real-world relevance of cybersecurity and blockchain in today’s digital landscape. Journey Speakers

Two inspiring speakers shared their personal experiences, offering a glimpse into what it’s like to explore cybersecurity and blockchain as students:

• Marcus Chin, Intern at Across Verticals, talked about his discovery of cybersecurity, reflecting on how his student experiences guided him toward this exciting field.
• Lee Wei Xuan, Intern at RedSquare Software, shared his journey into blockchain development and what inspired him to help build the CyberChain community at MMU.

Their stories inspired attendees to take the first steps toward their own journeys in these emerging technologies.
