Date: 20th August 2025
Time: 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Venue: CNMX1005, Central Lecture Complex, Multimedia University, Cyberjaya
On 20th August 2025, Multimedia University Cyberjaya hosted the KLJS X Junior Dev Meetup – Uni Edition, an exciting evening that brought together students and developers for a night of learning, networking, and tech community building.
The event, co-organized by KualaLumpurJS (KLJS) and Junior Dev Malaysia, aimed to connect aspiring developers with industry professionals while exploring practical software engineering insights and JavaScript best practices.
A Night of Learning & Collaboration
The meetup kicked off with arrivals and introductions, followed by two engaging technical talks delivered by experienced software engineers from Malaysia’s tech industry.
Talk 1: “If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It?” by Iris Yan, Software Engineer @ CoinGecko
Iris shared her insights into the often-overlooked world of code reviews — discussing why they’re essential, how they improve team collaboration, and what pitfalls developers should avoid. Drawing from her own experiences at CoinGecko and her background as a 5-time hackathon winner, Iris emphasized the value of communication and peer feedback in maintaining clean, reliable codebases.
Buzzcorner/ShoutOuts by Tevanraj, KLJS
Before the next talk, attendees enjoyed a brief Buzzcorner session hosted by Tevanraj, highlighting community updates, announcements, and shoutouts to ongoing initiatives within the local dev scene.
Talk 2: “React Rendering Patterns” by Abbas, Senior Software Engineer @ BloomThis
Abbas delved into the world of React rendering, explaining key rendering patterns — from client-side rendering and server-side rendering to static generation and server components. He broke down each approach’s trade-offs and real-world use cases, helping participants understand how to choose the best rendering strategy for their projects.
Mingle, Learn, and Grow
The evening wrapped up with a relaxed networking session where participants mingled with speakers, developers, and community members. Students had the chance to exchange ideas, discuss projects, and ask questions about the tech industry, career paths, and development tools.
Building Bridges Between Students and Professionals
The KLJS X Junior Dev Meetup – Uni Edition successfully bridged the gap between university students and working professionals, showing that the JavaScript and developer community in Malaysia is thriving and inclusive.
Whether you’re a first-year student just learning to code or an experienced dev looking to connect, events like these remind us that the best way to grow is together — through sharing, collaboration, and curiosity.
