MMU Schedulr Extension

Check out MMU Schedulr – a Chrome Extension that helps you transfer your timetable from MMU’s CLiC to Google Calendar. Students can now log into CLiC’s Weekly Schedule and Google Calendar, and with a few clicks in the extension, automatically create recurring events for their classes for the whole trimester.

The extension is built by Aiden Chan (FCI, B.C.S. Cybersecurity) at Hackerspace MMU for his fellow students (but it works for lecturers too!)

“I saw some videos about web scraping and was curious about it, and I’ve always wanted an easier way to get my classes into my Google Calendar,”

Aiden told us when asked about how the extension came about.

“I initially built it for my own usage, but friends at Hackerspace encouraged me to release it so that others can use it too.”

Aiden says he received a lot of support in the form of both inspiration and guidance from fellow Hackerspace members. “There was this cool project called CaMSys Dashboard by one of our alumni, Joey, which was no longer working, and I thought I could do something similar.”

“It was frustrating getting it approved on the Chrome Web Store, but I learned a lot about deploying an application in the process. Had to spend a bit of my own money too, but it was sooo satisfying seeing my friends actually using it.”

If you find the extension useful, buy Aiden a coffee on his page!
